RAW celebrate 1st birthday!
We made it! Today RAW insurance made it into a elite group of businesses that survive the first year.
RAW Insurance are one year old and what a year it has been! Join us as we run down the major events of our year!
Our year started 1st March 2018, Stephen & myself ( Ryan ) take a leap of faith and start our own brokerage. We made the decision to become an appointed representative of our previous employer, H&H Insurance Brokers.
Becoming an AR of H&H had some huge advantages from day one. As an AR we have the buying power of a much larger broker, this gave us the capability of obtaining the same insurer deals as our competitors which became vitally important in the following months.
Our vision for the business was we would be more modern and less formal than the usual Insurance Broker, no more suits walking into your workshop and baffling you with insurance jargon, we want to make it simple. We started this vision by creating our own insurance app, allowing our client to reports claims on the move within seconds, make changes to insurance policies and have copies of insurance documents with them at all times.
We used animated marketing to try and split us away from our rivals, creating an eye catching marketing campaign using bright colours, animation and local business promotion to get our name seen. This went incredibly well and eventually lead to us winning the Cumbria Business Boost competition with CN Media. Granting us £6,000 of free marketing.
By June we had picked up momentum with previous client of ours now transferring to RAW for their insurances, on top of this completely new businesses to us were giving us some large opportunities, which thankfully came to fruition in most cases.
August saw us take on our first employee, Keil Selby, an account handler that had previously worked with me in H&H. Keil was moving home and looking for a work from home position, we both knew how great Keil is and were more than happy to offer him a position. Keil now deals with all claims and amendments within RAW and we don't know what we do without him!
RAW was now growing nicely with roughly 250 clients, a huge milestone for us. Our 1st year was coming to an end and we could boast a retention of over 98% showing us we were doing something right. With this in mind we take on our 2nd employee in early 2019, Frank Ward. An extremely experienced account executive with a wealth of knowledge in the industry.
That brings us full circle...a year of incredible support from our amazing clients! Thank you all so much and look forward to seeing you soon.
